Trespa NL Project of the Month (September): Vivaldi, Stein
Congratulations to Wehrung Architecten with Vivaldi, named Project of the Month for September 2025!
Together with ArchiComm, Trespa presents this award to a project that demonstrates how adaptive reuse and sustainable façade cladding come together in a forward-looking design.
Where once nightclub The Swing attracted visitors, there now stands a building that provides a new home for 72 residents. Thanks to the dedication and collaboration of Wehrung Architecten, BAM Bouw & Techniek, the Safety Region South Limburg and partners such as Trespa, the building was given a second life with a fresh, sustainable appearance.

More than just a façade
One of the most visible parts of the transformation was the façade. For this, Trespa® Meteon® Uni Colours panels were chosen. These panels are known for their:
- Durability and weather resistance – essential for long-term use.
- Low maintenance – ideal for buildings that are used intensively.
- Aesthetic value – light earth tones that match the nearby town hall and create a calm façade appearance.
The result is a lively roof edge pattern that adds structure and dynamism while giving the building warmth and accessibility.
Jim Wolters, Account manager facade at Trespa, explains:
“For us, this project was about more than producing façade panels. It was about contributing to a living environment that offers quality and future-proofing.”

From nightclub to shelter facility
The adaptive reuse of The Swing came with its own challenges. There were no construction drawings available, and the existing layout full of small rooms and ornaments could not be reused. Architect Patrick Stienen (Wehrung Architecten) completely remeasured the building and designed a light and well-organized structure, characterized by natural color tones and an open appearance.
During the execution, BAM Bouw & Techniek opted for smart solutions. The existing canopy and roof covering were preserved, while the façade was completely reclad with Trespa panels, supplied through Jongeneel. Thanks to careful preparation: sawing, pre-drilling, and creating fitting plates, the installation process was smooth and efficient.

Built on collaboration
What defines this project is the strong cooperation between all parties involved. Despite the tight schedule and unexpected challenges in the structure, the deadline was met through open communication and a shared focus.
Patrick Stienen, Architect at Wehrung Architecten:
“We didn’t have a script, but by communicating quickly and openly, we met the deadline. That spontaneity in collaboration made this project special.”
For now and the future
Although Vivaldi currently serves as temporary municipal housing (TGO), the design was deliberately made future-proof. The building can easily be repurposed for other functions within the municipality of Stein in the future.
With this project, Trespa demonstrates that thoughtful adaptive reuse, sustainable façade cladding, and collaboration lead to buildings that are not only valuable today but also ready for the future.
