Hotel Beachfront Vlissingen
Introduction
On the Zeeland coast, in the Netherlands, overlooking the lively Boulevard of Vlissingen, the former Hotel Truida has been completely transformed.
The renewed Beachfront Boutique Hotel now combines fresh architecture, sustainable materials, and warm Zeeland hospitality, a transformation in which Trespa® plays a key role.
The challenge
Initially built in 1997, the hotel no longer met the comfort and sustainability expectations of today’s guests. Owner Pedro Ventevogel set out to create a future-proof hotel: a contemporary, energy-efficient design ideally suited to its beachfront setting.
In collaboration with Bouwbedrijf Joziasse, VKP Bouw, and the Vlissingse Ontwikkelingsgroep (VOG), the team undertook a complete structural renovation within the existing volume, preserving the building’s location and seaside views.
Design & execution
The design focused on finding a refined balance between seaside charm, comfort, and architectural quality.
Key design choices included:
-
Prefab timber-frame construction for improved insulation and energy performance.
-
A new front façade with sea-facing balconies in a playful, staggered pattern.
-
Renewal of the rear façade and entrance zones using Trespa® Meteon® panels and Trespa® PURA® NFC facade cladding.
-
A contemporary beach look that brings freshness, lightness, and character.
Construction took place in several phases, from demolition and structural steelwork to façade installation. Regular coordination meetings between all partners ensured smooth progress.
The hotel was completed in June 2025, just in time for the summer season.
Sustainability at the core
The renewed hotel is fully gas-free, powered by two heat pumps, and features improved insulation throughout. The decision to use Trespa® panels and sidings was a conscious one: long-lasting, low-maintenance, and resistant to salt-laden air.
“The combination of Trespa® design, sustainable choices, and Zeeland hospitality makes this hotel both future-proof and unique in its appearance.”
— Pedro Ventevogel, owner of Beachfront Boutique Hotel
The result
The result is a refined beachfront hotel offering 21 rooms and suites, with a crisp modern look that fits perfectly into Vlissingen’s coastal boulevard.
Thanks to its sustainable materials and local collaboration, this project demonstrates how design and durability can go hand in hand.
