How can I cut Trespa® panels?

Cutting Trespa® panels is comparable to cutting high quality hardwood. Trespa® panels may be machined using carpentry tools. The use of hard metal tools is advised.

Sustainability and Environment

 

Can Trespa® panels be recycled?

After service life Trespa® Meteon® can be reused for other applications. On account of its’ high calorific value (18 - 22 MJ/kg), Trespa® Meteon® is suitable for thermal recycling in approved industrial incinerators.

 

Does Trespa use renewable resources?

Trespa® panels contain up to 70% of softwood cellulose fibres, that originate from sustainable forests. Trespa has PEFC chain of custody certification. Trespa significantly contributes to carbon sequestration due to the woodfibre content, the high density and the longevity of the product.

 

Do you have certificates which show your environmental performance?

Based on the LCA analysis Trespa will issue Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) according to the agreed European standard. Trespa is in the process of obtaining EPDs for Germany, France and UK and will be made available. Trespa® products can potentially contribute to the LEED program for the Materials Reuse and the Indoor Environmental category.

How does Trespa measure its environmental performance?

Trespa believes in objective and fact based analysis and has performed a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to map its environmental footprint along the entire value chain. In fact, Trespa was the first in the industry to produce an LCA in 1994. Based on the LCA profile Trespa has set challenging but realistic environmental targets. Trespa has integrated all sustainability priorities into its rolling business planning and review cycle.

What are Trespa® panels made from?

Trespa® is a high pressure compact panel (HPL), based on thermosetting resins, homogeneously reinforced with wood based fibres and manufactured under high pressure and at high temperatures. The panels have an integrated decorative surface using proprietary EBC technology, except Trespa® Athlon®which has a hard surface based on melamine resins.

Can I get Trespa®panels in specific project colours?

Yes, Trespa® Meteon® and Virtuon® panels can be made in a wide range of special project colours. However, this is only available for projects with a minimum of 200 m2 per item number. For general information about special project colours, please contact us.
